The Arc Westchester Receives Westchester County Parks Foundation Award
The Arc Westchester was a proud recipient of a Special Recognition Award at The Westchester County Parks Foundation 44th Anniversary “Parks Are Essential” Gala on September 15 at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, NY.
Tibi Guzman, Executive Director/CEO accepted the award on behalf of the staff and individuals who spend countless hours supporting many of our county’s parks. We have partnered with Westchester County Parks since 2016 in providing an inclusive volunteer experience to build a variety of skills and experiences for young adults as they participate in the preservation and protection of our county parks.
In 2021 alone, 93 Arc Westchester participants contributed 950 hours of voluntary service with the Westchester County Parks.
The wide variety of skill-building opportunities include:
- Maintaining 13 parks weekly and removal of 679 pounds of litter
- Distributing signs and flyers for park volunteer events
- Caring for 159 native saplings
- Painting 750 square feet of park structures
- Packing 10,000 Ned & Albert Snack Bags for the park’s Winter Wonderland event.
These impressive accomplishments represent an essential service to our community that aligns with our mission of inclusion, and it contributes to the preservation of our environment.
Other award recipients at the gala were FUJIFILM who received the Community Partner Award and Robinson Oil who received the Business Impact Award. We are grateful to The Westchester County Parks Foundation for this recognition, and we look forward to a continued partnership in preserving and beautifying our county parks.
Our business partnerships throughout Westchester County & National Disability Employment Awareness Month!
The theme for this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) 2022 is “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation.” NDEAM celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices.
No one knows better about promoting equity and inclusion than The Arc Westchester. Our goal is for each individual we support to live up to their potential and pursue their dreams. We have joined with so many businesses throughout Westchester County to share the benefits of a diverse workforce in our communities. It is a win-win partnership for everyone, especially the people we support.
