EARLY CHILDHOOD

Evaluations

Evaluations and early testing makes all the difference

Early Intervention Evaluations:

The Children’s School believes that children with developmental disabilities and their families should be given a choice of early intervention services and resources to maximize their child’s potential.

The first step in exploring these services is a multidisciplinary evaluation. After initial contact with the Westchester County Department of Health (914-813-5094), The Children’s School for Early Development may be selected as an evaluator for your child. Based on your family’s concerns and priorities, a team of Children’s School professionals will visit with you and your child at your home to conduct the evaluation. The comprehensive report that follows will then be used to inform the interventions established to meet your child’s needs.

We would be happy to help you navigate these first steps! For further information regarding The Children’s School’s Early Intervention evaluations, please visit our contact page.

Preschool Evaluations:

As with our early intervention evaluations, The Children’s School for Early Development is committed to providing families in Westchester County with the information this is integral to best plan for a preschooler’s educational experience.

A highly qualified team of professionals, including a school psychologist, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, and/or physical therapist, will meet with you and your child at our centrally-located site in Hawthorne, NY to conduct a comprehensive preschool evaluation. Direct assessment of your child and valuable parent information are important. components of this process, and will be provided to your home school district to shape your child’s educational plan.

Should you have any questions regarding this process or if you would like to explore The Children’s School for Early Development as an evaluator for your child ages three to five, please visit our contact page.
