Highlights from our Recreation Program’s Fall Experiences!

Despite the prevalence of COVID-19 in our world, The Arc Westchester’s Recreation Program has continuously been able to travel throughout our community and give participants fun and safe experiences. Together they have cultivated relationships, and helped foster memories that will last a lifetime.

All of these wonderful experiences and trips have been made possible thanks to collaborations with various centers and organizations! The Arc Westchester always cherishes the strong community connections we can make, and appreciate their help in providing participants of The Arc Westchester with these invaluable moments.

The Taconic Outdoor Education Center is a beautiful facility that supports a variety of year-round day and overnight educational, team building and business programs, including programing for The Arc Westchester!

For the last several years the TOEC has made for a fun destination for our program participants. Spanning multiple seasons and affording unique opportunities to experience nature in an educational and safe setting.  This fall, we spent a long weekend at the center for some overnight camping (in heated and modern cabins, of course!).

Recently, The Bergan Performing Arts Center has become valued friend to our chapter, with the center accepting us into their “Arts Access” Program. As part of this program, our agency can be allotted tickets to future shows free of charge.

The Arc Westchester is extremely grateful for this opportunity, as it allows program participants to experience some incredible performances. For example this November, our group got to enjoy a “Haunted Illusions” magic show!

Breakpoint Bowl has provided some super fun times for our participants, with all the bowling, pizza, and video games that someone could ask for! Last weekend, our Recreation “Daycation” group spent the day at Break Point Bowl and Entertainment where they had a great time.

The group also notes that they are  always treated so well by our friends there. Providing a shinning example of our community engagement leads to lasting relationships!
