We are saddened to share the passing of the longtime friend, former Board President, and dedicated advocate of The Arc Westchester, Mohan Mehra, who passed away on August 15, 2026 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne and their son Brian.

Mohan was born September 1, 1943, and grew up in India, where he attended Modern School and earned a scholarship to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. This brought him to the United States, and he became a citizen in 1979. After earning a degree in engineering at Cornell, he worked briefly at IBM, then at General Foods in White Plains, where he worked in brand marketing and in food industry analysis and strategic planning.

Mohan joined The Arc Westchester Board of Directors in 1996 and served as Board President from 2001 to 2005, prior to that he served as Treasurer. During his tenure, he served on many committees, chaired the Foundation Task Force, and became a member of The Arc Westchester Foundation Board in 2003.

His devotion to serving people with developmental disabilities and the Arc extended beyond Westchester. He served as President of The Arc of the United States from 2010 to 2012 and was a member and officer of The Arc New York Board of Governors and the HOPE for Youth Foundation.

We are deeply grateful for Mohan’s many years of leadership, service, and friendship. His dedication to The Arc and to advancing opportunities for people with developmental disabilities leaves a lasting legacy, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
