On Friday, November 18, The Arc Westchester hosted its Annual Employer Recognition Breakfast at The Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown. This special event celebrated over 100 business and community partners who actively support hundreds of people with developmental disabilities in Westchester County. Through these partnerships, people in our employment program can thrive as employees, interns, and volunteers across a wide range of sectors, including academic institutions, manufacturing companies, professional firms, retail stores, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and many others.

The event kicked off with opening remarks from The Arc Westchester’s President, Steven N. Masket, Esq., and CEO, Tibi Guzmán, who both expressed gratitude for the invaluable support of the community partners. Dr. Marsha Gordon followed with heartfelt remarks, reflecting on her long-standing relationship with The Arc Westchester and extending her congratulations to the many businesses for their dedication to creating inclusive workplaces for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Moderator Barry Clark, Executive Director of The Westchester Foundation, introduced a compelling video showcasing the successful partnership with The Mines Press, a company that employs two people at their large facility in Cortlandt, New York. The video highlighted the positive impact of this collaboration and the value of inclusive employment practices.

Following the video, Barry welcomed keynote speaker Steven Mines, President of The Mines Press, who captivated the audience with his insightful remarks on the numerous benefits of fostering an inclusive workplace. Steven shared thought-provoking ideas about how diversity in the workforce strengthens companies and communities, and he encouraged everyone in the room to become ambassadors for The Arc Westchester’s employment program, helping to spread the message of inclusion and opportunity.
