Makeda Bishop Appointed New AED for Residential Services

The Arc Westchester Welcomes Assistant Executive Director for Residential Services

Makeda Bishop joins leadership team supporting residences for people with developmental disabilities

Westchester County, N.Y. (September 28, 2023) – The Arc Westchester today announced it has appointed Makeda Bishop of Cambria Heights (Queens) as Assistant Executive Director for Residential Services. In this role, Ms. Bishop oversees and ensures the delivery of person-centered services to the people living in The Arc Westchester’s 44 residences.

“As the ages and abilities of the people living in our residences evolves, it is critical to have a team in place that is both strategic and agile,” Tibi Guzmán, Executive Director/CEO of The Arc Westchester, said. “Ms. Bishop is well-versed in the work that we do and brings a wealth of relevant experience to our team. We look forward to working with her and witnessing the impact she will undoubtedly make on our residences.”

Ms. Bishop has experience working with OPWDD, OASAS, DEA, DOH and has served in comparable roles with major organizations including General Human Outreach, Catholic Guardian Services, Life’s Worc, and Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families, among other organizations.

Ms. Bishop holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Howard University, a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. She also holds a Certificate in Clinical Psychology as well as an ABA Certification. Ms. Bishopp is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, the American Psychological Association, and the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts.
