The Arc Westchester Honors Local Businesses, Employees at 31st Annual Employer Recognition Breakfast
Honorees include organizations such as Feeding Westchester and Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Yonkers Bureau
Westchester County, NY (May 6, 2019) – On Fri., April 26, The Arc Westchester hosted its 31st Annual Employer Recognition Breakfast at The DoubleTree Tarrytown. This yearly celebration honors the 250 business and community partners throughout Westchester County that provide employment opportunities to individuals supported by The Arc Westchester.
“Today, we’re proud to salute our employers who exemplify a commitment to inclusion in the work place through the development of meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, as well as the employees who continue to make us proud of your success on the job,” said Tibi Guzmán, The Arc Westchester’s executive director and CEO. “Through our Employment Program, our individuals are able to meet their potential and become full contributors to the Westchester community through employment, internships and volunteering.”
Following remarks from Guzmán and Michael Orth, Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health, The Arc Westchester hosted its first employer panel, featuring several of the organization’s esteemed business partners. Moderated by Sally Paull, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Regeneron, who accepted the Share of Voice Award for the company at the 2018 Employer Recognition Breakfast, the panel featured: Matt Diana, Plant Manager, Cintas; Helene Godin, Founder & CEO, By the Way Bakery: Polly Peace, Executive Director, Country Children’s Center; Joseph Saccomano, Jr., Esq., Office Managing Principal, Jackson Lewis.
After hearing the panel’s insight into employing individuals supported by The Arc Westchester, the awards portion of the morning began. This year’s award winners included:
- Bridge to Employment: Feeding Westchester
- Continuing Partnership: The Mines Press
- New Business Partnership: Maier Markey and Justic LLP and Stillman Property Management
- Promoting Independence: Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Yonkers Bureau
One of the ceremony highlights was the presentation of the Anthony Cannata Memorial Employee Awards, which is bestowed each year upon an individual or individuals who have surpassed their job expectations and set an example for all employees. This year’s honoree was Yaniv Gorodischer, who works at Chartwells at PACE University.
The Arc Westchester’s employment services focus on helping individuals discover their interests, develop their talents and prepare for meaningful careers. Today, more than 600 individuals are currently in jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities throughout Westchester County.
