Our Guardianship BBQ: Good Food, Great Company
We wrapped up June in the best way possible—with our annual Guardianship Barbeque at Macy Park in Ardsley! Under the cozy shade of the park’s gazebo, newly appointed Director of Guardianship and Supported Decision-Making, Samantha Long, greeted guests with a warm smile and big energy.
The guardianship team, along with the picnic food from The Great American BBQ and tunes from Sound Solutions, brought the party to life. While we know no one can ever replace family, our staff is always there to offer support, advocacy, and a good dose of fun for the people we serve.
Events like this picnic are a perfect reflection of our values including building meaningful relationships and promoting happiness. Families, board members, staff, and friends all came together to reconnect, laugh, and make memories.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, including Executive Director & CEO Tibi Guzmán, Deputy Executive Director & Chief Strategy Officer Paul Torres, members of our Board of Directors and Guardianship Committee, families, and the entire administrative team. Here’s to a great summer ahead!
“This is always a special time during the summer to gather with friends, catch up with families and have fun. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us.”

What is Guardianship?
The Arc Westchester supports the principles and practices of person centered planning to promote self-determined lives. To further these efforts, our guardianship staff provides information on advocacy, guardianship, decision-making supports, and alternatives to guardianship. Periodic seminars are offered to assist with completing the petition for guardianship through the Surrogate Court.
There are also alternatives to guardianship, including:
- Supported Decision-Making (SDM)
- Health Care Proxy
- Power of Attorney
- And More
