Disability Rights Activist Honored
In acknowledgment of our 75-year commitment to supporting and advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities, The Journal News has featured an article highlighting the remarkable journey of our steadfast advocate, Ann Nehrbauer. At the remarkable age of 95, Ann stands as a beacon of resilience and dedication, known across the state for her role in the closure of the Willowbrook State School for disabled children and adults during the 1980s. Her tireless advocacy has left an indelible mark on our community, earning her widespread admiration and respect.
Most recently, her extraordinary contributions were honored with The Lifetime Advocate Award from The Arc Westchester Foundationfor her dedication and advocacy.
