A Matter of Taste Dazzles Guests and Shatters Records
Twenty-eight restaurants and caterers served up top culinary fare at the Glen Island Harbour Club at A Matter of Taste, Arc of Westchester Foundation’s annual food and wine event held on October 18.
Best of all? We raised nearly $400,000 for children and adults with developmental disabilities, breaking all previous records.
We look forward to this event every year, and not just because of the delicious cuisine. It’s a time to see old friends and make new ones, celebrate our accomplishments and look toward a brighter future for the community we support. This year, 400 guests joined us, and we thank each of you for your support.
This year, we paid tribute to Virginia Donovan, a parent, benefactor and treasured member of the Arc of Westchester family with the Family Partner Award. Virginia’s involvement with Arc of Westchester began decades ago when she brought her daughter, Karen, to The Children’s School for Early Development. Arc of Westchester said “yes” when all other schools closed their doors and said “no.” Inspired by a deep gratitude for the life-changing services Karen received, Virginia continued to donate throughout her life. According to Nancy Patota, Executive Director of Arc of Westchester Foundation, Virginia looks at things “through the Arc lens—everyone and everything has potential.”
We also had the privilege of honoring Bill Deutsch, Founder and Chairman of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, with the Business Partner Award. Bill became involved five years ago, inspired by Arc of Westchester’s mission and positive impact on thousands of people throughout the arc of their life.
While accepting his award, Bill noted that what he found most moving about Arc of Westchester is that it was founded by families, for families, for life. That’s truly what our organization is about.
The evening’s program journal with our generous sponsors can be viewed online here.
Thank you to everyone who supported A Matter of Taste—we couldn’t have done it without you!
