On April 30th, The Arc Westchester Foundation hosted its 18th annual food and wine tasting event, A Matter of Taste, at the stunning Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle. This highly anticipated event brought together nearly 20 area restaurants for a spectacular culinary evening attended by over 360 guests. The evening was a tremendous success, raising nearly $500,000 in support of The Arc Westchester. These vital funds will benefit the nearly 2,000 people with developmental disabilities and their families that we support every day.
The event was an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the breadth and depth of the work of the organization, and the vital role of community and partnerships in making, and keeping, positive change.

Corporate Partner Award: The Mines Press & Iscream

We are proud to honor The Mines Press and their subsidiary, Iscream, recipients of this year’s Corporate Partner Award at A Matter of Taste, in recognition of their outstanding commitment to creating an inclusive workforce. Through their partnership with The Arc Westchester, they have provided meaningful employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities, fostering independence, dignity, and community connection. Their leadership in inclusive hiring sets an inspiring example for other businesses.
In his acceptance remarks, Steven Mines said: “Our original goal was to help the Arc do what they do which is give people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live the human experience a little more like the rest of us. [The people we employ from The Arc Westchester] are living dignified, productive lives enriched with real accomplishments. “When you take a person like [those the Arc supports], and you drop them into the midst of your organization, you’re challenging your staff. You’re saying to them “I know you’re a good person and I’m giving you the chance to prove it to me now by helping this person succeed.” “All of your staff will want to share collectively in their success. It builds character, and nothing makes people feel better about themselves and those around them than when they’ve passed a test of character.” “The rest of us have to do our part and help this community so that they can enjoy the human experience with the same sense of joy and dignity that we do.”
Join us in celebrating The Mines Press and Iscream for their remarkable impact!
Family Partner Award: The Daddino Family

We are proud to honor The Daddino Family, recipients of this year’s Family Partner Award at A Matter of Taste, for their years of unwavering dedication, support, and commitment to our mission. Through their consistent generosity, advocacy, and heartfelt involvement, the Daddino Family has made a lasting impact on the lives of countless people supported by The Arc Westchester. Their efforts reflect a deep belief in the power of community and inclusion, and we are grateful for their continued partnership.
In her remarks, Daphne Daddino said: “I know Rose and Salvator Pugliese , my parents, are smiling down on all of us tonight as they see their aspirations for my sister Susan [who receives services from The Arc Westchester] realized in her everyday life. As you know it often takes a village to support an organization’s work. We are grateful to the many helping hands enabling The Arc Westchester to fulfill their mission: to enrich the lives of the developmentally disabled. Again, we are privileged to accept this award. Thank you.”
