Human Resources Intern – Temporary

Description:

  • The Human Resources Intern will assist the Human Resources Department with recruiting Direct Support Professionals for the Residential Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Review current DSP recruitment materials and recruitment resources, and identify and create new contacts.
  • Develop a comprehensive recruitment strategy.
  • This includes a daily schedule – target locations (schools, churches, libraries, community organizations, etc.).
  • This also includes enhancement of the use of social media and other on-line resources.
  • Implement strategy on outreach recruitment, this includes interviewing, follow-up, paperwork completion, etc.
  • The HR Interns will set up appointments for individual and group interviews in different locations and obtain employment verifications and references for applicants selected.

Requirements:

  • These internships will consist of 35 hours per week for a total of 6 months (Part time schedules can be available also).
  • Candidate should be pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.

SUPERVISOR OF FAMILY OUTREACH

Description / Responsibilities: 

  • Implements the Family Outreach Program to identify unserved and underserved individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • The purpose is to identify these individuals and link them with appropriate generic and specialized services.
  • This work focuses on establishing relationships with formal and informal service providers and making connections with neighborhood associations.
  • Short term case management is provided to help meet the needs of individuals.
  • Oversee other aspects of the FSS Grant for Outreach including the reimbursement program, CBI, and the Parenting Program.

Requirements: 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Health or Human Services field; Masters Degree is preferred.
  • Requires minimum 2 years experience working in an organization with people with developmental disabilities.  At least one year experience in staff supervision.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license and reliable vehicle are also required.
  • Experience with linkage and referral services and connections with community based organizations.
  • Bilingual Spanish required.

Pay/Salary:

  • $22.45 – $26.92/HR

COMMUNITY ACTIVITY LIAISON

Description:

  • Utilizing a variety of creative methods, develop community opportunities and relationships in order to provide regular, meaningful and educational experiences of interest for individuals in Day Services.

 

  • Opportunities may include but are not limited to volunteer sites, internships, classes, lessons, career exploration, tours, lectures, shows, exhibits. Work with teams and individuals to learn interests and disseminate and share information in a clear and organized manner. Follow up with all stakeholders and provide ongoing support including on site instruction to individuals. Supervise staff as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Requires H.S Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Requires a valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • One (1) year experience with DD population, individuals with disabilities, or related field is preferred.

Salary/Pay:

  • $17.21/hr
