Westchester Parks Foundation Honors Arc Westchester

The Arc Westchester Honored by Westchester Parks Foundation at 44th Anniversary Gala

Westchester County, N.Y. (October 14, 2022) – The Arc Westchester was recently honored by the Westchester Parks Foundation at its 44th Anniversary Gala. The ‘Special Recognition Award’ was presented to the nonprofit “for their commitment to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and their continuous efforts with Westchester Parks Foundation’s Volunteer Program.”

“We are thankful to the Westchester Parks Foundation for this recognition and the numerous volunteer opportunities they have offered people with developmental disabilities throughout the duration of our relationship,” Tibi Guzmán, Executive Director & CEO, The Arc Westchester, said.

The Arc Westchester began its relationship with Westchester Parks Foundation in 2016. In 2021 alone, 93 Arc Westchester participants contributed 950 hours of voluntary service with the Westchester Parks Foundation. Among The Arc Westchester volunteers’ contributions are: helping to maintain 13 parks weekly, including the removal of 679 pounds of litter; distributing signs and flyers for park volunteer events; caring for 159 native saplings; painting 750 square feet of park structures; and, packing 10,000 Ned & Albert Snack Bags for the park’s Winter Wonderland event.

Westchester Parks Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, philanthropic organization which provides private support to preserve the County’s Park system and improve the quality of life in our communities.
